1. Allen County Fair, Lima

The very first Allen County Fair was held Oct. 21, 1851. The Allen County Fair has come a long way from that first community event and marks the end of the summer for many area school kids. Today, the Allen County Fair boasts rides, games, and a wide variety of food. One of 88 county fairs in Ohio, the Allen County Fair continues to one of the most popular. One of the reasons it does is the great nightly entertainment offered each year with top name musicians, horse racing, cheerleading competition and the 4-H competition, too.

2. St. Gerard Festival, Lima

Nothing signals the beginning of summer more than the St. Gerard Festival. The event offers plenty of rides for the daring. The food is wonderful, with the chicken wings popular with many attendees. Itís also a great place to meet up with friends to socialize, too. Itís no wonder that all three days of this festival are busy!

3. Star Spangled Spectacular, Lima

The day begins with a big 5K race. It continues with rides, great food and a variety of activities for all ages, and it ends with one of the best fireworks displays in the area. With all of that, itís no wonder that Faurot Park is packed on July 4.

Honorable Mentions: Square Fair, Lima; Kalida Pioneer Days, Kalida; Firemanís Jamboree, Cridersville
