BoysJamar Butler (Shawnee). Butler was Ohio's Mr. Basketball as a senior in 2004 and first-team all-state three times. He scored 2,412 points in his career and went on to start for 3 1/2 years at Ohio State.Ben Mauk (Kenton). Mauk passed for a high school national record 17,364 yards in his career and quarterbacked Kenton to two state championships. He was a starting quarterback at both Wake Forest and the University of Cincinnati.Travis Walton (Lima Senior). Walton was a four-year starter and All-Ohio basketball player at Lima Senior. He started for 3 1/2 years at Michigan State, where he played in the Final Four and was the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.Zac Dysert (Ada). Dysert passed for 11,174 yards and 100 touchdowns for the Bulldogs. He was Division VI Player of the Year in football and an all-league basketball player. He started for Miami University as a freshman and sophomore at quarterback before suffering a torn spleen last season.Ross Homan (Coldwater). Homan was a three-time All-Ohio linebacker and led Coldwater to its first football state championship in 2005. He went on to start three years at Ohio State and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2011 NFL draft.GirlsCaity Matter (Bluffton) Matter was a two-time Division III Player of the year in basketball and won the shot put and discus two times each at the state track meet. She scored 2,274 points, then went on to score 1,523 points at Ohio State.Danielle Taflinger (Lima Central Catholic). Taflinger was first-team All-Ohio twice in volleyball when LCC won the 2007 state title and reached the 2008 state semifinals. She was an all-league player in basketball and qualified for the state track meet. She plays volleyball for the University of Findlay.Angela Homan (Spencerville). Homan was a two-time individual state champion in cross country and a two-time state champion in the 3,200-meter run. She went on to run for Auburn University.Abbie Stechschulte (Columbus Grove). Stechschulte was a state champion in the 100-meter hurdles and as a 400-meter relay participant. She currently is training to attempt to qualify for the Olympics in the heptathlon.Stacey Wannemacher (Ottoville). Wannemacher was a three-time state champion in the shot put, scored more than 1,000 points in basketball and lettered in volleyball. At Purdue University, she qualified four times for the NCAA outdoor track meet and earned All-American honors.
