I have known John Nixon for more than 20 years, and I have observed his actions on Lima City Council on several occasions during my previous employment at the Lima Police Department.

During the 1990s, as Finance Committee chairman, John demonstrated an ability to find solutions to tough economic problems though discussion, debate and meaningful dialogue. To do so is challenging and time-consuming.

Effective problem-solving requires more than simply being disagreeable or engaging in criticism for dramatic effect. It requires persistence, patience and restraint. It requires offering a viable alternative to the problem at hand while considering multiple perspectives.

Now, more than ever, Lima City Council needs a leader who can bring divergent viewpoints together and, after careful consideration of the facts, build consensus for the implementation of viable solutions.

John Nixon is the positive choice for Lima City Council president. He has demonstrated his leadership ability during tough times in the past, and will surely do so again as we face what will likely be even tougher times in the future.
