Lima Council asks

landlords to break law

How can Lima City Council hold landlords responsible for junk automobiles? If a landlord tries to dispose of a vehicle it doesn’t own, the landlord is opening him/her self that would be theft of an automobile. Legally, you cannot junk a vehicle without the title and how could you force the tenant to sign over the title?

The proposed council action against the landlords is not be feasible. “Big Brother” again! You would again be holding someone responsible for the tenants’ action. Even if you evicted them, you still couldn’t legally dispose of the vehicle. Put the responsibility where in belongs with the person that owns the vehicle, not the landlord.
