‘Yes’ vote will keep Elida moving forward

As Elida residents since 1962, we have observed great successes at Elida Schools. We have seen those begin in kindergarten, extend through high school, and continue beyond in college, the military and eventually the work force.

Much credit is given to students who have made decisions necessary for those successes, but we also credit the positive influences their teachers have been in guiding them along the way. Many of those faculty and administrators have been honored for the impact they’ve had while taking pay freezes over the years to help with the funding cuts that have had such a drastic impact on education. The outstanding appearance of grounds and buildings makes us appreciate the pride those employees take in Elida.

There have been successes of the arts such as theater, vocal, and instrumental, which carry over into adulthood. We have observed community support of Elida athletics bringing the “Sea of Orange” together. These opportunities provide important life lessons such as teamwork, dedication, and pride.

Being a former half-day kindergarten teacher, I appreciated the Elida school board seeing the value of full-day kindergarten and funding the additional half-day, but we regretfully do understand that high-cost unfunded programs are the first ones to be cut. We realize these are difficult decisions, but we are confident our tax dollars have been spent wisely and are certain this will continue with the expertise of our administration.

A collective 76 years in education, 71 at Elida, we have observed many positive happenings…let’s keep it going! A yes vote can make this happen! Go Dawgs!
