Gun debate dividing country



The two recent articles relating to the gun debate in The Lima News — “Gun Raffles stoke debate after Sandy Hook” and “The NRA’s enemy list” are typical scare tactics being used by the national press and anti-gun politicians to conquer and divide the NRA and millions of gun owners. I don’t believe for a minute that 79 percent of NRA members support universal background checks. Who took this poll? Mayor Bloomburg?



President Obama and the entire gun ban crowd are spewing untruthful information to the American public. What’s new? Some reporters who make statements that the NRA is failing to represent their members. That’s false! The truth is Obama’s cronies are trying to divide all gun owners across America with lies about their real agenda. Universal background checks will lead to gun registry and then gun confiscation undoubtedly will be easily attainable. You think that can’t happen here? It happened in England; it happened in Australia.



According to FBI statistics for 2011; 323 murders were committed with a rifle (that is what an AR15 is), 496 murders were committed with blunt objects (hammers, clubs etc.), and 798 murders were committed with personal weapons (hand, feet, fists, etc.). Hardly makes sense to ban semiautomatic rifles when more people are being murdered with hammers and fist. Besides, banning semi-automatic rifles and high capacity clips will never stop a psychopathic killer intent on committing murder.
