The Bible is without error
I am compelled to respond to the recent letter “Don’t waste your time quoting bible” printed April 27.
The writer fails to mention the most “patently illogical” and “unscientific nonsense” of all in the Bible: A dead man, Jesus Christ, got up and walked and is alive today! “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16.
The “word of god” (as the writer mockingly put it), is in fact without error, consistent from Genesis to Revelation, and is life to those who believe. No evidence, proof, or scientific argument will convince someone otherwise who does not have the desire to know God.
What will convince someone, however, is when their conscience is convicted of their need for God’s love and forgiveness, restoration and redemption. If one simply dares to look at the Ten Commandments in humility, asks, “So how am I doing,” and considers the fact (whether they believe it or not) that they will stand before a just, holy and righteous God one day … that may create a sense of need. I pray, in love for the writer, that he will do this.
The writer states that “the country’s mess can be readily explained by the deplorable lack of critical thinking among voters, as evidenced by the recent pathetic letters relying on the Bible.” I suggest that the country’s mess can be readily explained by its turning away from the Bible.
I hope and pray I have not wasted my time.
