Act of kindness from a stranger

I am writing to let you know of something that happened to me, which not only made my day, but also restored some of my faith in humanity.

In this day and age of “give me” and “can I have” or “what’s in it for me,” it is wonderful when something happens that is given purely out of the need or desire to simply pay it forward; with no recognition, only wanting to bless someone while remaining anonymous.

I went to Bob Evans on the east side of Lima a few days ago. I sat in a booth like I usually do and proceeded to order. Halfway through my meal, my waitress came up to me and informed me that I didn’t have to stop at the register on my way out. That someone who was still in the restaurant, and who wanted to remain anonymous, wanted to pay for my meal. I was awestruck. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. And believe me, I have been around for many years.

It touched me so much, that I was speechless and then cried. I asked my waitress to please thank the individuals for me. As soon as I got home I called my daughter Grace to tell her about it. I will in turn pass on my good fortune to someone else anonymously. For the Lord says in Matthew Chapter 6, “So that your giving is done in secret.”
