Our responsibility to support levy
I have read many letters to the editor recently from people who have something nice to say about Elida Schools. I have two children: One graduated from Elida, while the other is still in school. They both took advantage of the opportunities provided by the school to make the experience beneficial to them. I hate to think how that experience will change if they levy doesnít pass. Not just for my child, but all children that are still to come.
As adults, it is our responsibility to support public education, regardless of whether we had children, we have children or our children received their education some other way. That responsibility is not accomplished without sacrifices.
To me the sacrifice is worth it because itís not just about me. We can complain that the system isnít fair. We could withhold our support because we donít like a teacher, or a coach or an administrator. However, in the end, who are the losers? Our children and our community!
If the State has taken away money from our school, then the community needs to step up and fill in the gap. I will be a supporter, because the children of my community are worth it!
