GOP budget cuts are Draconian
U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Lima, claims the sequester cuts are good because they cut government spending. The cuts enacted so far are outrageous and shameful and defy common sense.
Medicare cancer patients denied care at clinics. Some 600,000 children cut off Head Start, thousands in Ohio alone. Four million fewer Meals on Wheels that feed our shut-ins and seniors. Thousands of Ohioans denied unemployment checks.
That will hurt our economy.
Meanwhile, Jordan and the Republican majority in the House pass a budget that gives even more tax breaks to millionaires. The budget passed also cut spending $4.5 trillion over 10 years, which will make these heartless cuts look almost generous.
The conservative caucus budget was even more Draconian and couldnít even get a vote. Jim Jordan was one of itís chief sponsors.
When the cuts our congressman was so thrilled with hit air traffic controllers, Congress took three days to restore service. This stopgap lasts until October, so plan your flights accordingly. The cuts in the Farm Program are next, wait to hear the wailing when that happens.
Taxes are at their lowest as a percentage of the economy since President Dwight Eisenhower. That is a fact.
