No more support
for Elida schools
I cannot support Elida School levy for many reasons. I attend every school board meeting so I am aware of a lot of the things that are going on in the school system. I cannot understand why they are asking for a levy that will generate more than $2 million when the shortage they say they will have is less than a million dollars and the state is starting to give them more money.
They also plan to spend approximately $1 million dollars to tear down and grade the Gomer school site. This was decided after there was an auction for the school and they received a bid but turned it down because the bidder did not state what he was going to do with the building. There are zoning laws in effect for the Gomer area so they can control what was done with building. Rather than getting rid of the school the administration would prefer to waste our tax money tearing building down. The building is full of asbestos which adds to the cost of the demolition.
Make sure all of the facts are known to you before you vote and I hope you see things I have pointed out. I have lived in the Elida school district for over 50 years and supported the school in the past, but I cannot this time.
