Veterans food pantry grateful for support
The Allen County Veterans Food Pantry was blessed in 2012. We received support from all of you during the entire year. There were food drives as well as monetary donations from churches, organizations, unions and individuals. The food drives helped fill our shelves and add some variety to them. The monetary donations gave us the ability to purchase food from the West Ohio Food Bank. We are very grateful there is such a food bank in our area and we thanks them.
In December a plea went out through The Lima News that we were in need of new freezers and refrigerators. Thank you to The Lima News, reporter Sarah Stemen and photographer Jay Sowers for the coverage they provided us. As a result we received from a number of people and companies in this community six new freezers and six refrigerators. We have now had some time to organize and use our new freezers/refrigerators. It is wonderful to have the assurance that we have reliable new equipment. It is also nice to have space available to meet our storage needs. Thank you to our volunteers for their work in stocking the freezers/refrigerators.
Since the beginning of 2013 we have received continued support for our veterans from this generous community and we “Thank you” from the bottom of our hearts.
