Support Elida schools May 7
I love Elida! I hope you will join me in voting for both levies on May 7 so we can keep our schools and community strong.
I am a graduate of Elida and I have two children enrolled at Elida. I have spent many hours in the schools as a parent volunteer and as a substitute in different areas of every school building. I continue to be blown away by the dedication of the staff. Each building is filled with staff who care for the children and give of their time, energy and own finances to help the children excel.
My children have been blessed with many excellent teachers through the years and I am forever thankful for what they have done and continue to do for them. It began with a caring kindergarten teacher and has continued through the years as they are now an eight-grader and fourth-grader.
My daughter was studying the other night for her math Ohio Achievement Assessment and she recited one trick after another to help her do excellent on her test. My son had an amazing teacher who taught him how to write a research paper. He will use the tools he learned in seventh grade to write papers in high school and college.
The schools are facing more mandates required by the state, but they are receiving less funds as well. It is our job as community residents to fill in the gap. We need to show the children in the Elida community that we believe in them and we want to help them become successful adults.
