Park district needs our support
I am a volunteer and supporter of the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District. Every time I see the joy and amazement of a child or the spark of curiosity in an adult it demonstrates to me how a strong park system contributes to the local quality of life. We are blessed in Allen County to have access to one of the best park systems in the state. It has excellent facilities, knowledgeable staff and dedicated volunteers that serve both the serious naturalist and the recreational user.
Recent economic events and decisions have resulted in significant reductions in government funding for our park district. To maintain the current level of services that the park district provides, it is imperative that we, the local community, fill the funding gap. That is the reality.
I trust that local voters value our parks enough to preserve the current level of park district services by voting for the 0.75 mill replacement levy on May 7. It is a small price to pay for the quality of life provided by our park district services. Please help keep our parks open, accessible, and safe for all to enjoy.
