Nowís not the time
to turn your back
The upcoming Elida School levies brings up many opinions and emotions. As a result, the sole purpose of the levy sometimes gets lost in the rhetoric. That adequate funding is available to effectively operate and maintain the Elida School District as part of a strong community is a goal that should never be compromised. I personally see the quality and integrity of our teachers and students every day. I wish I could share this daily experience with our voters because this is what is at stake at the polls in May. Itís not about the new high school building or any particular administrator: Elida Schools is a much more efficient and productive high school and district because of the new building and its administrators. Do you recall how controversial the Elida Fieldhouse construction was in its time? I donít hear complaints about it today.
This levy is about results that come from a quality educational program carried out in a modern facility supported by caring staff and administrators. My four boys graduated and benefited from Elida Schools and its curriculum, sports and extra-curricular programs. Three of them earned bachelorís/masterís degrees as a result of their Elida educational foundations and associations with the many wonderful teachers in our school system. My fourth-oldest son is developmentally-delayed, but benefited from Elidaís Special Education Program, Apolloís programs and he is a contributing member of the Allen County work force.
Please do not turn your back on our youth. Vote yes on both levies and support Elida Local Schools.
