Tea party filled with phony Christians

I continue to be amazed at how the words of the Founding Fathers are “cherry-picked” by faux-Christians in trying to convince the citizenry of the United States that this country was formed as a “Christian” nation.

The Founding Fathers believed in a higher power, but did not sanction any religion or declare this a Christian Nation. Their biggest concern was not that the government would take over religion, but that religious zealots would take over the government.

We see this in the form of the phony religious conservative tea-party elected officials and their hypocrisy when they grab a microphone every time something doesn’t go their way, such as marriage equality or health care for women.

They rant and rave about the wrath of the Almighty coming down on America, yet don’t hesitate in voting against school lunches for poor children, or cutting off funding for people who need food stamps, or trying to gut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid or wasting time trying to kill a judicially sanctioned health care plan that would help people get coverage that don’t have access to it now.

If they are worried about any Almighty wrath, don’t they think this would bring it quicker because taking care of the least among us was something that Christ actually talked about? If these people really think that this is a Christian nation, then wouldn’t it make sense that they acted like it and practiced what the Lord actually preached?
