I find it interesting about all the attention the absence of Elida school board members have received. As it turns out, the one member has had medical issues that may have prevented him from attending the school’s graduation, and the other member likely was never asked about his absence — I’m sure most assumed it was something negative.

The most surprising thing to me is no one has even mention how the first words out of the leadership’s mouth was about the failed levy and the cuts the school has endured. What a great speech at a high school graduation. As they say, ”Its all about the kids.”

I cannot forget the incorrect pronunciation of names while handing out diplomas. These were not tough names to pronounce, in fact, some were names of second generation students.

I also question how prior to the levy it was “pass, or else.” Now they found they can operate another cycle. This is the same leadership that talks about being fiscally tight, but approved more than $60,000 for repaving a two-year-old parking lot at the new high school and no one asked why.

The leadership will circle their wagons and throw out accusations and excuses and take a defensive position as they normally do when questioned, but when that takes place in most cases there is usually more to the story than meets the eye.
