Elida board members

need to be active

An Elida school district resident recently wrote a letter to the editor about the absence of two board members at the Elida High School graduation ceremony. He then went on to mention that one of the two board members not in attendance has not attended school board meetings for several months.

In the blogging that followed , Donald Zlotnik commented:

“The “Terrible 3” on the Elida school board ignore the other two, do not even listen to their imput (sic) and you want these highly productive men to sit there and take that abuse?”

The answer is yes. Grow up.

Board members run for office and are elected. Can you imagine any other elected official refusing to come to public meetings and conduct public business because they felt that other elected officials were ignoring them or not listening to them? Is Donald Zlotnik (not an elected official) now speaking for these two board members?

It is true that two board members did not show up for graduation and did not inform the high school principal or the superintendent that they would be absent. Who knows why they did not attend?

As far as missing board meetings, the records speak for themselves.

Most Elida students behave more like responsible adults than many of those who seem intent upon continuing to damage the district. They have learned that holding grudges and petty, vindictive behavior won’t get you where you want to go. It’s beyond sad, it’s pathetic.
