Legislators treat guns as if they were toys
I followed the Senate proceedings regarding gun control background checks. Iím thinking once again these spineless Republicans are like little children playing with their toys, the more we have the happier we are, never mind the tragedy that is happening in our urban area everyday because of gun violence.
Our Founding Fathers, who instituted the Second Amendment to the Constitution, would roll over in their graves if they could see what gun violence has reaped on this beloved country today. Why is it this nation is the only civilized one in the world still living in fear because mindless individuals, without restraint or legislative control, can pull out weapons of destruction with impunity? Is it any wonder the rest of the world views the United States record on gun violence as an aberration of an otherwise peaceful, robust society.
When will these cowardly legislators realize that guns are not a sport like baseball, basketball and soccer. We are talking about weapons of destruction used in warfare here. Why canít we enact laws on all gun owners, much like needing a driverís license, in order to participate in hunting, target practice or for personal protection?
I taught for 35 years and the day a school system would have me ďpackĒ a gun is the day I wold have started looking for another job.
