Apollo Career Center needs your support
I’ve been treasurer at Apollo for 28 years. Below is our record and what we’ve accomplished.
We’ve had one tax increase since 1981. In 1996, a 0.5-mill permanent improvement levy was approved at a cost $1.28/month (for a $100,000 home).
Since 1985, we’ve added the adult education building, the fire tower, a burn room, a truck-driving
academy, a construction equipment building, a career tech metal building lab, a large storage building and 19 acres of adjoining land. We’ve also made many changes throughout the facility to accommodate new programs and to upgrade existing programs.
We’ve not only dramatically increased our enrollment in both high school and adult education, but we are now No. 1 inf the state in issuing adult industry-based credentials. We’ve helped train thousands of high school students and thousands of adult students to get good jobs in less than one year. Our graduates are our firefighters, EMT’s, nurses, auto mechanics, electricians, welders, and others who touch your life everyday.
We’ve increased the general fund balance by six times and doubled the adult education balance. Our staff and students are actively involved in many projects throughout the community.
Apollo is asking for a 1 mil levy on May 7. It will cost tax-payers $2.56 per month ($100,000 home). If it passes, we receive a $23 million grant from the state to help remodel, renovate and expand the facility. We have been good stewards of your money, and we will continue to be. We need your help! Please help us. Vote yes for Apollo Career Center on May 7.
