I would like to comment on the letter “Better care needed for vet gravesites” published on June 1. I agree with the writer about the condition of the military grave markers at Allentown cemetery.
However, the authors (Pam and Dean Edwards) have incorrectly stated that care of the Allentown Cemetery is the responsibility of American Township. The Allentown Cemetery Association is its own organization and cemetery maintenance is done by the association, not by employees of American Township. I felt it necessary to point out this discrepancy because I did not want the condition of the markers at Allentown Cemetery to reflect poorly on the employees of American Township who are not responsible for this location.
