Dad, mom need

to regain control

When I was 10 years old, any kid who showed up at school without a pocketknife was considered a sissy. At recess time we would go out under a shade tree and play mumbley peg with our knives. If you are too young to know the game, look it up on-line. Most of the time we had a teacher watching and cheering us along. When we got to high school, most of the farm boys who drove to school had their rifle or shotgun in the car or truck so they could hunt squirrels or rabbits on the way home. If neither were in season, they would stop to shoot groundhogs along the railroad. None of us ever thought of using a knife or gun against another person.

When I was in school we were taught that all of man’s laws were derived from God’s laws and that was why we were to obey them. If we got into a fistfight, we were told how that was a violation of “Honor your father and mother” because we knew that mom and dad would not want us to fight.

What really changed over the last 50 years? God and the Ten Commandments have been taken out of our public view. We are no longer allowed to explain to the younger generation where our laws find their foundation. Without a good foundation, is it any wonder why we are where we are?

Gun control can be done the same way car control is done. Control the person who has command of the gun or car. Any other approach to fixing the problem will never work.
