History of the

Guardian Angel Run

On April 11, 1994, my granddaughter, Jordan Leigh Fisher, died from sudden infant death syndrome. My former husband was a member of a motorcycle club at the time. All the guys agreed to turn their annual Update Run (club members had to have their bikes up and running by this date) on the Saturday before Motherís Day into a Memorial Run for Jordan.

In 1995, I asked the members if they would let me take care of their Update Run and turn it into the Guardian Angel Run for Jordan. They agreed. The U.S. Patriots M/C of Ohio has always used this run for its annual Update Run.

I wanted some way to keep the memory of my granddaughter alive and this was my way of honoring her memory.

You never see much information about SIDS. It is a subject most people do not talk about. Your children and grandchildren are not supposed to leave this Earth before you do. There are more children who die of SIDS in a year than all who die of cancer, heart disease, pneumonia, child abuse, AIDS, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy combined.

I want to thank everyone who has been there through the years, but especially the other families who have lost an innocent baby to SIDS and attend this benefit every year.

The 20th annual is just around the corner. This year it will be held May 11 at the Eagles Club in Celina. Registration is at 11:30 a.m. First bike out at 1 p.m. Help make the 20th the biggest and best year by attending this benefit. Proceeds to SIDS research.
