This senior citizen

believes in our future

This morning as I watched the Elida Elementary students getting off their school buses, I began thinking about the school issues on the May 7th ballot.

I am a senior citizen with four grandchildren in the Elida Schools. I also have six more grandchildren in three other school districts. I support two World Vision children so they can attend school in their countries. I consider the education of our youth to be very important.

The Elida Schools get a lot of criticism. Although the Elida School system doesnít do everything that I think is right, they do so much more that is right. Government regulations dictate many of the decisions made by the school officials, which makes it difficult for administrators and the school board.

My grandchildren like the teachers that they have this year. They enjoy learning. Many of the teachers at Elida would like to do more with their students, but are limited by budget, time and other issues.

The students of today are our doctors, nurses, educators, electricians, plumbers, lawyers and elected officials of tomorrow. All of us benefit from a well educated society, even if we donít have children or grandchildren in school.

It is so important to supply the support and the funds to help educate our future generations. Support the Elida schools and all the schools. We all benefit in the end.

Joy Stager, Elida
