The proposed farm rules suggest that the tried and true work ethic of educating young people on a farm will no longer be permitted under the law. What does the U.S. Department of Labor really want? Why is it trying to control and manipulate our lives? If more young people learned the lessons that are taught on the farm, there would be far fewer people on government support today. Children need to be taught at a young age to work and think at the same time. If the government ties our hands with stupid laws that harm the work ethic that made this nation what it is, there will be just that many more people on welfare.I was taught at a young age to run equipment on the farm safely. I taught all of my five children how to run equipment safely. My sons own a construction business, and they started in that line of work at the age of 16 because they were taught a good work ethic on the farm. My daughters also joined in the farm work, and today they are hard workers in the health care system. You can't wait until a child is 18 to teach him to work. If you wait until 18, you miss a great opportunity. It is time we stand up for our freedom and common sense, or the government will own us all.
