Check the facts; vote for Elida schools
I have been faithfully involved in the levy campaign for the Elida Local School District. I attended my first committee meeting back in March and from then on I have been participating in whatever I can do to contribute to campaign efforts.
I firmly believe that Elida schools needs the renewal levy, which means No New Taxes and the new levy which is 5.95 mills for five years. What that means is the new levy will cost a homeowner about $15 a month per $100,000 of home value. I have heard many positive responses throughout the Elida community.
Elida Local School District has received a total of $6.9 million in state aid in 2012; yet in 2004 Elida received $7.56 million for a loss of $665,181. In those eight years, Elida has cut 43 positions. All remaining staff members took a wage freeze and have increased their contributions to health care. Elida maintained the same enrollment and quality of education in that same time period. As a matter of fact, Elida Local School District has been ranked “excellent” three of the last five years. The high school ranked “excellent” eight of the last 10 years, and the middle school ranked “excellent” seven of the last 10 years.
I am imploring people to look at the factual information in deciding what would be best for the Elida Local School District and community. If you would like additional financial information please visit http://home.elida.k12.oh.us and locate the financial tab or http://keepelidastrong.com. Please keep our schools and community strong by voting for Elida on May 7.
