Putnam County supports its programs

The Sons of American Legion Post 63 Ladies hosted its 15th annual challenged individuals with needs/Putnam County Special Olympics fundraiser in April. We have reached our goals every year despite some tough economic times. This year we reached our goal and raised more than $30,000 for the Putnam County Specials. People in Putnam County should be very proud of their community; we always help one another in every aspect of life.

Challenged Individuals with Needs/Putnam County Special Olympics fundraiser helps more than 250 clients in Putnam County. We purchase uniforms for basketball, swimming, bowling, track and field. We also pay all entry fees, pool rent and other sporting rentals if needed. Also, we purchase items to stimulate the low functioning, such as waterfalls, TVs, lighting, mirrors, music, lift chairs and so much more.

We want to thank everyone who help support this fundraiser. The pledge states: “Let me win and if I cannot win let me be brave in the attempt.” I say this to myself often when I’m out collecting for the fundraiser and hear people say, “No we can’t help.” I don’t get upset because I know I was brave in the attempt.

Thank you so very much to all my volunteers and all who donated.
