tax for Van Wert?



Van Wert City School District residents are being asked to vote on a 1 percent income tax levy for the Van Wert City Schools. They are saying it is not a new tax, just a renewal.



The present tax is 1 percent for five years and is about to expire. The proposed levy is for 1 percent for a continuing period of time. No limit on the time frame. How can this be a renewal if the present tax is for five years? In my opinion, this is a new tax because of the continuing wording, not a renewal.



If this tax is passed, our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren etc, will still be paying for something voted on in 2013. Think about it.
