Being snookered
by wind farms
An online poll on Feb. 11 asked readers to comment on whether or not they approved more windfarms in area.
Regular readers know my strong stance against this industry. For those who are still skeptical or supportive of it, you should educate yourselves about the property value decreases that come with windfarms. The industry denies this claim, but evidence to the contrary is surfacing.
Search the web for the following articles: www.windturbinepropertyloss.org, “Wind farms drop property values”, “Some big country counties raising taxes as windfarm values decrease”, “Developer drops claim that wind turbines do not hit house prices.” These are just a few examples.
You, the taxpayer, are giving this industry $12 billion in 2013 through the PTC. Do you think they deserve your home, too? If your home value drops and the subsidies end, who will pay the local taxes? Windfarms won’t because they ask for PILOTs and tax abatements. If you agree with me, please contact the county commissioners and voice your opinion. Cory Noonan was quoted recently supporting the development of a transmission line from Van Wert to Allen county.
