The Ottawa Township Trustees would appreciate your “Yes” vote on Nov. 7 for the Ottawa Township Fire Levy. In order for us to help our two fine fire departments continue to provide excellent services, we are in need of additional funding.
We are asking that the residents of the unincorporated areas of Ottawa Township vote “Yes” on this fire levy to maintain the present equipment of both the Ottawa and Glandorf Fire Departments and to help pay for future new equipment and supplies. Within the next seven years, between the two departments, they will need to purchase or replace four trucks.
At the present time, Ottawa Township is the only township in Putnam County that does not have a fire levy. Recent cuts in funding received from the State of Ohio, and also the loss of Ohio Estate Tax income, have made it necessary to seek one.
This is a 1.35 mill levy for five years. It is expected that this levy will generate $93,483 per year for the township, amounting to approximately $47.25 per year for a $100,000 home.
