A salute to veterans of

World War II, Korean War

who died this year

The Lima News would like to pay a special Memorial Day tribute to those World War II and Korean War veterans who died this year and whose names appeared in the newspaper.

Yielding to the inalterable process of aging, the men and women who fought and won World War II are now in their 80s and 90s. They are dying quickly — at the rate of just more than 600 a day, according to recent U.S. Veterans Affairs figures.

This year also coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Korean War armistice. Those who served in Korea did so with courage and distinction.

God bless these veterans for their service.
