Nothing says Christmas like a healthy dose of class warfare masquerading as governance. That is to be expected when you have a child running the White House.
Indeed, President Barack Obama appears to be going off the figurative cliff. Or as U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi, R-Ohio, said, he is in "la la land."
Obama keeps claiming the so-called fiscal cliff can be avoided simply.
"We can probably solve this in about a week, it's not that tough," Obama said Wednesday.
Which is quite hilarious given that he refuses to compromise or honestly negotiate.
Obama's only solution, of course, is to steal more money from the nation's producers. The same mantra he has repeated for the last four years while overseeing the worst economic recovery in U.S. history.
However, that plan is not about economics; it is pure, unadulterated class warfare.
Simply ending the Bush tax cuts on the wealthy would fund the government for three days. Obama's plan to raise tax rates on those earning more than $250,000 would raise $85 billion and fund the federal government for a mere eight days. Even if Obama were to raise taxes to 100 percent of income over $1 million — something that would never happen — the take would be just $616 billion, or two months of federal spending.
Obama's whole tax plan is overly simplistic. Raising marginal tax rates on the rich without limiting deductions would simply force the rich to create nonproductive tax shelters or to use loopholes depriving the government of some of the money it is trying to steal.
Yet, for reasons that escape anyone with a brain, Obama is refusing to budge on that eight days of federal spending. Why? Because, as he has blatantly admitted in the past, he doesn't care if taxing the rich is bad economics, he thinks it is only "fair." Even if raising taxes reduced revenue, he said he would still want to do it.
How can anyone possibly support a man with such bizarre and truly moronic economic ideas as his?
How can any thinking person even consider the idea that raising taxes is a good idea when the government wastes hundreds of billions of dollars on truly stupid things?
How can anyone justify taking more money from the producers while we spend millions of dollars to train Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly?
How can any American honestly believe it is a good idea to raise taxes on our small-business owners while the Obama administration spends $20 million helping students from Indonesia get master’s degrees and another $750,000 building a soccer field for the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba?
If you claim we should raise taxes before ending programs such as an Obama plan to spend $500 million on a program that will, among other things, seek to solve the problem of 5-year-old children who “can’t sit still” in a kindergarten classroom, then you are either a blind partisan or brain dead.
In fact, in the last 12 years, federal spending has increased $2 trillion, $1 trillion of that in the last four years. Clearly, the United States has a spending problem, not a revenue problem.
The problem could be solved quickly without spending cuts or tax increases. All that needs done is for the children in Washington to start acting like adults.
If government growth were limited to 2.5 percent a year, the budget would balance itself in 10 years. While that does not solve the underlying problem of our huge welfare state, it would balance the budget without spending cuts or tax increases.
You could reach that point even faster if the government stopped spending $25 billion a year maintaining empty buildings, stop giving $2 billion to farmers every year to not farm their land, and stop giving grants to colleges to study things such as cow farts and how people find love on the Internet.
Unfortunately, Obama would reject such a simple plan because it does not tax the rich so he can get that eight days of federal funding.
What is wrong with that man? And, more importantly, what is wrong with you people who follow and worship him?
