Letter: Homophobic notions stupid beyond debate
Why would anyone in our homophobic society choose to be homosexual? Science found the gene determining homosexuality is stronger than the gene determining right or left handedness. And the history of lefties is instructive in considering this hostility toward gays.
Our word “sinister” derives from the Latin sinistra, meaning “left hand,” because our unenlightened ancestors considered lefties unnatural with parents and teachers trying to convert lefties to righties. While we laugh at this absurdity, we are trying the same tactics of fear and intimidation to change gays.
If homosexuality is a choice, then, ipso facto, heterosexuality must be a choice. Now, when did you decide to be heterosexual? You know you never made such a choice. Your heterosexuality was inborn and a part of your being without your ever choosing or taking any action of any kind.
And so it is with homosexuality. A homosexual just finds himself attracted to the same sex exactly as you were attracted to the opposite sex.
To condemn another for being something over which he has no choice or control is the definition of bigotry and is stupid beyond any debate.
