The editorial asking for some common sense from the Department of Labor makes a lot of sense, but asking for common sense from just about anyone these days is a stretch, let alone a government agency. If these rules go into effect, it is another nail in the coffin for agriculture and young people involved in that way of life.Look around you and get a good look at the kids who have a work ethic, money-management skills and problem -solving abilities. It has become a lost art for the most part. Working on family and neighboring farms, 4-H and FFA has had a part in preparing them for life. If this bill goes into effect, it would create a complete shutdown of a way of life that has been this way for decades. It is no surprise to anyone that farm work can be dangerous, but so is being turned loose to find danger in a lot of other ways.
