During the open house at the Allen County Humane Society, it was wonderful to see how well the shelter takes care of its cats and dogs. The workers are so kind and work very hard.

Many people donated items for the animals or supplies. There were raffles and food and cakes and handmade items. It was wonderful to see the animals and spend time with them, They were so loving and beautiful. One of the most touching things I saw was a young boy carrying a gift bag with donations that came in with his mother. The other was a man adopting an older cat that had been there for a few years. I watched and saw a great deal of love grow between the two. The sad part is that there are many there that still need homes and deserve them. Some have been there for many years just wanting someone to take them home and love them. They ask for so little and give back so much.

People always seem to want kittens, but they grow and get big soon also. The older ones are loving and have not experienced feeling anything but alone or abuse before they were at the shelter.

Please get your pets spayed to stop this madness of unwanted pets. I have a number of cats because of people not spaying or neutering pets! Help your shelter with donations of food, supplies, or operation money. It cost a great deal to run a shelter and to spare these animals’ abuse and death. Thank you for all that helped for such a wonderful open house.
