In years past, I've enjoyed driving along North West Street Road past the prison properties in the spring and summer. The trees were pretty and sometimes you would see a squad of prisoners pushing lawn mowers. Now, the trees are all dead and look terrible, and the mowing is done by someone driving a tractor. I don't know what killed the trees. Old age or perhaps too much road salt.It would be nice if the Ohio Department of Transportation cut the trees down and then replanted 15 or 20 feet farther from the road. They have plenty of right of way to do that, and they have plenty of help available from the prison.
