In The Lima News on Aug. 6, there was an article titled Report: Medicare healthy, Social Security ailing.” They try to make it sound as if it is the people’s fault because too many are retiring early and then living too long.

The reason Social Security is ailing is because it had a big surplus, but the sticky fingered politicians couldn’t stand to see it sitting there, so they stole from the fund and used the money for other ventures. So where does the blame lie?

The article also stated that there will be no cost-of-living increase for Social Security recipients next year. I am willing to bet dollars against doughnuts that the politicians will vote themselves another raise, one they don’t deserve.

The election is coming. Wake up and pay attention to whom you vote for.
