It is all over the news about the H1N1 and flu pandemic and the precautionary measures folks should use. You can Google “alternative handshakes,” and there is a post for swine flu handshakes, Ebola handshake (rubbing elbows), air fist bump (make fist to bump on top of each other, but do not touch), distance shaking (traditional hand extension but do not touch hands).

Sleep Center of Lima will just be adopting the simple policy of “pardon us for no handshake.” Just as many hospitals are limiting visitors, care facilities canceling events and churches stopping sign of peace, our staff will not be shaking hands with our patients. Our staff and physicians will be wearing badges with our slogan, “Pardon us for no handshake.” If you should visit our office you will find us either bowing, raising one hand and stating hello or putting our hands in a praying position with a slight extension to you.

Please know we will not be offended if other offices and/or individuals wish to adopt our preventative measures of no handshaking, antibacterial soap, antibacterial gel at check-in, removal of magazines in waiting room and nightly Lysol of the keyboards, door handles and phones.
