RON J. WEISS, LimaThe future of our nation is in jeopardy. Choices we make do not line up with the guidelines of the Bible and lead to consequences we will not be able to endure. The “politically correct” term tolerance applies to everyone except Christians. More and more, this nation is turning against those who espouse Christian values. Our nation is quickly moving down the path of destruction, unless we turn back to God and follow His ways. As the adage says, those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Our public school books have rewritten the Christian heritage of our nation and replaced it with secularist thinking. On Oct. 11, 1798, President John Adams stated in his address to the military, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Henry Ward Beecher (1813-1877), a famous American editor, abolitionist and clergyman said, “The Bible is God’s chart for you to steer by, to keep you from the bottom of the sea, and to show you where the harbor is, and how to reach it without running on the rocks and bars.” John Adams stated in his diary July 26, 1796, “The Christian religion is above all religions that ever prevailed or existed in ancient or modern times the religion of wisdom, virtue, equity and humanity.”Our hearts, minds and actions are sick. We are doing a great job of destroying our nation from the inside. There will be terrible consequences for the foolish paths we have chosen to walk on. We need to heed the warning that Jesus gave to his generation, “Unless you repent, you too will all perish.”
