It is amazing that politicians will work to stop the extension of unemployment checks, but the politicians are determined to push for more funds for a war that is questionable. America is a great country, but we must know when to hold and when to fold in certain situations.

They said extending unemployment benefits would add to the deficit. Well, where were they when the deficit was sky-high several years ago?

It is also amazing how easily people are led to believe a negative instead of a positive. All working class people should ask themselves why our elected officials didnít speak up in our favor when jobs started leaving years ago. Why didnít they tell the big companies to keep our economy moving and our jobs here? We are the ones buying the products, and if there are no jobs, then no products will be sold.

We are teaching our young that itís OK to be disrespectful to anyone, including our parents, elders and teachers by the way they see their parents, neighbors and friends disrespecting our president. People who spread hate and venomous words against our president should be held accountable legally. I realize we all have freedom of speech, but it seems to me that if your speech causes harm or something else to someone, you should be held liable.

I remember reading and hearing on one of the news channels that a young man had made threatening remarks against President George W. Bush and he was arrested and brought to trial. Why should that law change now that Barack Obama is the sitting president?
