While watching C-Span 3 recently, I heard some interesting things. There was a hearing in the House Energy and Commerce Committee on the Keystone pipeline. The purpose was to come up with an amendment to the Keystone bill and attach it as an earmark to a must-pass bill. While listening to the hearing, I found out that all the steel for this project already had been purchased from India. Not one scrap had been bought from our own steel mills. One company in Baton Rouge, La., has a contract to roll the steel into pipe. This company was formed two years ago. I also found out that this oil, after being refined, will go on the open market and not used exclusively in the U.S. Also, the wild claims of 20,000 to 50,000 jobs is totally ridiculous. If this is the Republicans' job plan, we are in big trouble.
