I was pleased to see the editorial Wednesday in The Lima News addressing the bullying of not only students but anyone who is bullied (“Finding the line on bullying”).
I was disappointed that, in the same editorial, it stated Miss Ford could have avoided being bullied if she had an adult to keep other students away. Why does the burden fall on the victim to protect herself? I think it would help greatly that when a bully is identified, that student should have to stand in front of his peers and announce he is a bully and who he bullied. Maybe that embarrassment would make quite an impression on other bullies.
Not only that, but he or she could find him- or herself on the receiving end of being bullied after that admission.
