RON PUGSLEY, LimaWe’ll soon have to elect a new president, senators and representatives. The question is will we have a better government or more massive debt, crazy trade agreements, tremendous trade deficits, major job loss and even the erasure of our major industries? According to our government, 95 percent of our clothing and shoes are imported, two-thirds of our steel is imported, we no longer make denim or blue jeans, televisions or home electronics in the U.S. That new car, no matter its name, the engine, transmission, tires dashboard meters, brake pads, door handles and latches are imported from all over the world. But those nations buy little from the U.S. What will our new president and Congress do about our southern border? We must look at our illegal population. Why are they here? Taxpayers should not be held responsible for any of the costs relating to illegal immigrants. Let employers pay the courts and costs.
