My child came home from school one day with a concussion. The school's explanation was that another boy lightly hit him on the cheek a few times and there was no need to send him to the school nurse. The doctors did confirm his concussion, so I needed answers. I was not allowed to view the video of the incident, the school said, and no one knew how he ended up with a concussion. Six and a half months later, I was able to view the video. I watched in horror as my child was beaten until unconscious with the teacher standing a few feet away, watching and pointing at him, even allowing another child to walk up and hit or slap him in the head while he lay there motionless. How can the people in charge of our children be exempt from repercussion for their actions or lack of it?
