Kudos to Lima 3rd Ward Councilman Jesse Lowe II for making residents aware of civil board member Jacqueline Tyreís view of minorities.†I am forever appalled that black people, still in this day and age, are still using this word.

Tyreís excuse that it is mutually acceptable is only an excuse. The N-word usage is horrible and derogatory, plain and simple. Why Tyre isnít offended by the usage of this word maddens me. If she were that one pencil pulled out the box, I see what we would be getting. It seems to me that she has a negative view on race, and I feel sorry for her thinking that using the N word is still acceptable. She needs to review her history in depth. Shame on Lima Mayor David Berger for wanting Lowe to apologize.

As a mother of two, Iíve always taught them never to use the N-word in any shape, form or fashion. Not even amongst yourselves. I canít even form my own mouth up to let that word roll out.

We need our older generation to be role models to eradicate the use of this word. But how can they when our elders see that this word is still ďsocially acceptableĒ among our community? News flash: No, it isnít.
