I look for The Lima News to tell me what is new. A darned good medium to depend on. The Ohio Newspaper Association tells us so.I was a part of it when I joined the staff. I became display advertising manager 1957 for 10 years. I wanted to get a metropolitan daily publication under my belt. The Hoiles family brought the property, a chain operation known publicly. It belonged to the international typographical union until the group waged a strike.Another newspaper was formed, The Lima Citizen was designed. For seven years, the two papers competed. It was a fascinating daily news product. Competition was wild and furious. The Citizen sold out to The News. Not all employees shared in the sale of the newspaper purchase! Everyone went home for the night. Some came to The News. Others went to bigger and better.Today you have the best of the crop.
