Karen S. Vennekotter
Karen S. Vennekotter, 61, died at 11:35 a.m. June 13, 2013, at St. Ritaís Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 28, 1951, in Lima to Robert J. and Clara G. Schmiedebusch Siefker, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 24, 1978, she married Thomas Vennekotter, who survives.
Mrs. Vennekotter was a 1969 graduate of Columbus Grove High School and a 1972 graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing, Toledo. She later received a bachelorís degree from Bluffton College and a masterís degree in administration from Ashland University, Ashland. She was working in nursing administration at St. Ritaís Medical Center, where she focused on quality of patient care. She had been a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, and a member of Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council 166 and St. Nicholas Church, Miller City. She was currently a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima. She was a very doting grandmother of twin granddaughters. She enjoyed cooking, decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, and spending quality, loving time with her family.
Survivors also include two daughters, Sarah (Shadab) Ali, of New York City, and Kristin Vennekotter, of Washington, D.C. and Columbus; a brother, Donald (Laura) Siefker, of Ottawa; and twin granddaughters, Sofia and Norah Ali.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father Charles Obinwa and Deacon Tom Niese will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m.
