Virginia “Gena” Cecala CaJacob, 80, died at 10:31 p.m. Dec. 28, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born April 14, 1929, in Chicago Heights, Ill., to Joseph and Tillie Zerante Guagenti, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 10, 1949, she married Joseph A. Cecala, who died Feb. 27, 1970. On July 20, 1974, she married Dr. Gene CaJacob, who died May 12, 2005.
Mrs. CaJacob retired in 2008 as co-owner of C&G Distributing. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was a very charitable, loving and caring person to several causes and families. She spent her entire life helping others.
Survivors include a son Fino (Cheri) Cecala, of Lima; three daughters, Connie (Gary) Konst, of Defiance, Dona (Mark) Kaufman, of Findlay, and Cynthia (Tom) Smigielski, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; three brothers, Sam (Denise) Guagenti, Francis (Ann) Guagenti and Louis (Phyllis) Guagenti, all of Lima; two sisters-in-law, Barb Guagenti and Tiz Guagenti, both of Lima; two stepsons, Doug (Kathy) CaJacob, of Sidney, and Steve (Sally) CaJacob, of Lima; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; special friends and caregivers, Marcie Margraves and Donna Sturdivant, both of Lima; and her special friends at Springview Manor Nursing Home and Primrose Retirement Community.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Guagenti; and a stepdaughter, Deborah CaJacob.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. today at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Stephen Blum will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family who will donate it to St. Charles School or Bridges Academy.
