Daniel A. "Danny" Sosby, 44, died at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 4, 2007, at his residence.
He was born June 7, 1963, in Allen County to Hugh and Mary Golliday Sosby, who survive in Jackson Center. On Oct. 12, 1985, he married Tina Norton, who survives.
Mr. Sosby was a deputy sheriff with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department for 18 years. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a 1981 graduate of Jackson Center High School. He was an Air Force veteran, serving three years as a security specialist. He enjoyed weightlifting, NASCAR and Notre Dame football.
Survivors also include two sons, Ryan Sosby and Kyle Sosby, both at home; a sister, Jodi (Kelly) Morris, of Jackson Center; three brothers, Donnie (Kathy) Sosby, of West Mansfield, and Deron (Sherri) Sosby and Dwaine (Tina) Sosby, both of Jackson Center; paternal grandmother, Marie Sosby, of Jackson Center; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Marian Norton, of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law, Becky (Rod) Miller, of Jackson Center; and his dog, Biskit.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Leonard Sosby; maternal grandparents, Francis and Norma Golliday; his father-in-law, Chester Norton; and a nephew, Seth Miller.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Botkins. The Rev. Patrick Sloneker will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Sanford Funeral Home, Jackson Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund for his sons or to Wilson Hospice.
