BLUFFTON — Frank “Butch” Sanders, 66, died at 4:20 p.m. Nov. 9, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, while in his wife’s arms and surrounded by family after a yearlong battle with esophageal cancer.
He was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Lima to the Levi and Loretta Prine Sanders, who preceded him in death. His parents who raised him in Delphos, Stanton “Bus” and Margaret Trempert Sanders, also preceded him in death. On Oct. 8, 1993, he married Deborah D. Webb, who survives in Bluffton.
Mr. Sanders worked in maintenance for Fruehauf for more than 25 years, PSI in Ottoville, and the Lima City Schools. He was a member of High Street Free Will Baptist Church. He was in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post 96, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, and Delphos Bass Club. He was an honorary lifetime Member of Forest L. Wood Outdoor. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors also include three sons, Chad (Cindy) Sanders, of Bluffton, Ryan (Staci) Wingfield, of Harrod, and Thad Wingfield, of Bluffton; two daughters, DeEtte “Dee” (Darren) Helms, of Delphos, and Nicole “Nikki” (Joel) Dunifon, of Bluffton; 28 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; four brothers; six sisters; a sister-in-law, Bert Sanders, of Delphos; and special friend, Jim Reams, of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, with military rites by VFW Post 1275 and the U.S. Air Force. The Rev. James Webb will officiate. Burial will be in National Cemetery in Dayton.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday the funeral home.
